Finding Meaning in “Holiday”

During this festive season, the greeting, “Happy Holidays” cheerfully rings through the air, beckoning us to reflect upon our beliefs and celebrations we will soon be observing.  And, it made me curious about the meaning of the word holiday. So, looking deeper into the derivation of the word, I discovered that it fits Keller Williams Realty’s culture perfectly.  Holiday is Middle English – haligdaeg – a combination of halig (holy) and daeg (day). Thus, wishing someone a “Happy Holiday” actually translates into Happy Holy Day. This absolutely applies to all religions and beliefs!

At Keller Williams Realty we are blessed to share life’s journey with those of a myriad of faiths. We cherish our family’s diversity, and our unity within that diversity. In whatever way you celebrate this season, I wish you the warmest of holidays, and hope that you set aside the time to treasure, recognize and honor the blessings in your life. We should all express our gratitude for the freedom to practice our individual beliefs, the unparalleled opportunity to succeed professionally and the fact that we are surrounded and encouraged by family and friends.

Granted, 2009 has been a challenging year for most of us. But over and over again, I have been amazed by the examples of our associates’ unselfish caring for others. Taking one look at our Photobucket page for RED Day which hosts over 2,000 photos, you can’t help but be instantly inspired to give back. All year long I have seen that enriching the lives of others is not a seasonal happening for our associates, it is a daily commitment.

So, whether we are celebrating each other’s uniqueness, helping each other during challenging times or cheering one another’s successes, each of you makes Keller Williams Realty the company a special place during this holiday-and throughout the year! As I celebrate Christmas, I will be thinking of each of you and looking forward to a new year of giving and sharing.
