Let the Social Madness Challenge begin!

Earlier this month the Marketing and Communications Team and the KW International Support Center nominated Keller Williams Realty Inc. for the Business Journal Social Madness Challenge, sponsored by Capital One Spark Business. We are pleased to announce we’ve been chosen as a contestant!

The competition showcases the best business social-media growth strategies in a tournament-style challenge.  Scoring is based on votes on the challenge website and on new fans, friends and followers across our social media channels during the contest.

All new 1) votes, 2) followers (on our Twitter & LinkedIn) and 3) likes (on our Facebook page) from this point forward count for our company’s scoring. A few tips to maximize our scores:

> You can find Keller Williams Realty, Inc. under the “Large companies” tab on the voting page. This is also where they update the numbers each day at 7 a.m.

> SHARE! Share and Retweet where to join and how to vote with your networks! Take this opportunity to help grow both your own and KW’s social presence, helping your clients and communities stay connected with updates directly from KW. We recommend posting: “Help Keller Williams win $10,000 for KW Cares, the company’s non-profit by voting for us in the Social Madness Challenge!”

A vote for Keller Williams is a vote for our entire brand and therefore, a vote for YOU. Anyone can vote once in each round of the contest. Yes, your kids, neighbors and even the mailmen can vote!

“But why?” The three national winners – in addition to national bragging rights – will receive the chance to designate the recipient of a $10,000 charitable donation. Also, connecting to Keller Williams on our different social media channels helps build our online presence and strengthen our brand while keeping you updated on all things within Keller Williams and the real estate industry.

In the tournament-style challenge there are several rounds narrowing the pool each time. On June 19, the eight Austin-based companies with the most points in each size category will move on to a local, head-to-head bracket phase. In that phase, companies will be eliminated each week until a local winner is named in each size group after July 16. Those winners will advance to the national rounds, which will begin July 24 and run into September. In those rounds, local winners will compete against champions in the 42 other U.S. markets for the national Social Madness title.

Thank you in advance for your participation and support. We know this is just the sort of challenge the Keller Williams family loves to take on! Please do not hesitate to contact Stephanie van Hoek, Public Relations and Social Media Coordinator, with any questions or comments.

Be sure to stay tuned throughout the challenge for score updates and social media tips!

Great idea! Social media is the best form of media, because it’s earned. Often times people ask me, “how does a company get so many likes on their fan page, so quickly?” My response is always “First you ask the employees to all like it, then the employees ask the existing customers to like it, (persistently) with some help from the marketing department, the rest should happen from there.

So if all of us stick together to promote the KW brand, it should be significant.
